Something New

We have never been to Haiti...It is exciting to have such an opportunity. We leave in 1 week to go to Haiti for 8 days. It will be just Melissa and me along with a friend named Pudens. We will be right outside of Port-au-Prince most of the time. It is one of those trips where we do not have a packed itinerary, but just felt impressed by the Lord to go and so we are. We will distribute as many Bibles and tracts as we can while going to communities to share the gospel during the days. I will be preaching at a Nazarene church in Petionville on Sunday (8/2/08). It is possible that we may also speak in some other churches while there. I have never preached with a translator....should be fun!

Pray for us! Haiti is an extremely poor country (poorest in western hemisphere) with many problems, one of which is extreme spiritual darkness. Many of the people are Catholic, but it
is the extremely distorted version of Catholicism that is open to including spiritist practices. FYI that is not Christianity (John 14:6).
Depending on where you read, anywhere from 70% to 90% of Haitians are in bondage to voodoo. Pray that God would use us as a part of the work that He is doing in Haiti.

We will also attempt to visit a Compassion site where our youth at New Covenant have begun to sponsor two children.

Info on Haiti from CIA Factbook

I think I will have internet so I will try to post while there...maybe one a day.

Some Random Stuff...

Jerusalem Marketplace is where it's at.
Here is my fam...the tribe of Asher (I am the Apostle Peter in this picture also...) Good tan huh

Raccoons need hamburgers too (or two)...
This raccoon came out at tickfaw state park to retrieve a down burger at a kid's bday party. I didn't get a pic, so I suggested we drop another and, well...here is is
