I returned one week ago from a brief trip to Central America where a dear friend of mine is serving to build a pastor training center. Some men from our church went to do a construction project on the road to the center. Also, I had a chance to preach at the church he attends. It was my second trip to preach with an interpreter (my translator did fantastic!). It is different, and you cannot say as much in as little time. But, I enjoy it because it really allows me to see firsthand that God's Kingdom is so much bigger than what I am accustomed to seeing. I think when the gospel is coming from Greek to English and then to Spanish there is a great demonstration of God's heart--crossing barriers to save people.
I enjoyed the times of fellowship with the men and I feel like God did some significant things through us and especially in us. If you are one who was praying for us...thank you!
Also, God gave me two great opportunities to share the gospel with individuals on our flight home. On the first plane I shared with a young lady from London named Laura. She worked in marketing and had never been to church before in her life! She was completely uninterested in anything spiritual. God opened the door for me to share what he has done in my own life and it was apparently meaningful for her to hear. I was able to challenge her to seek after God and not be distracted her whole life by meaningless things. From what I could read in her countenance, I think she may consider looking into Christ's offer of salvation. Also, I was able to share with a Mexican man and leave with him a Spanish New Testament. Someone mentioned in prayer at the beginning of our trip that God may have us going just to share the gospel with someone on the plane even...who knows how God will use us.
I resume school this week. I am taking a total of 14 hours (9 on campus and 5 online) please pray that all of it will help me more effectively glorify Christ. I do not want to be caught up in the busyness that is common today. Lord, help me stay at your feet!
